Columbia population hits 100,000.

In the news recently was new information that Columbia, MO has reached the 100,000 mark. It is a milestone, but what does it really mean? There is one school of thought that says that once a town reaches 100,000 it reaches "critical mass" and the growth from there happens at a swifter pace. Some say that businesses and industry that once wouldn't have given us a second look will now take an interest. And there are others that say it's just a number and it really makes no difference. I've witnessed a lot of growth in my lifetime seeing the population increase from somewhere around the 36,000 to where we are now. There are some that aren't ready for growth, but I think towns are a lot like children...I love mine in every stage and at every age. Some miss the bucolic days of rush minute. Personally I'd rather fight a little traffic and have the opportunities growth gives us. I'll be the one with my convertible top down enjoying the ride!
